(Applied to Learning Difficulties, AD/HD, Oppositional Relationships,
Drug and Alcohol Problems, Anxiety and Depression, and Aspergers)
Wednesdays - May 2 - June
6, 2007 / 6:30 - 8:30pm
Laconia High School, Room 218
Description:
Lakes Region General Hospital cordially invites parents, teachers, special
educators, coaches, and the medical community to attend a free public
lecture offered by veteran child and family therapist Dr. Bert Whetstone.
Childhood difficulties challenge adults in many ways: learning style
differences, aggression and sadness, refusal to comply, impulsive behavior,
drugs, distrust, lack of focus, negative attitudes. Sometimes parents and
teachers wonder, “Who’s in charge here?"
Over a
five-week period following the free public lecture, Dr. Whetstone presents a
series of interactive workshops based on his 360º Model for Dealing with
Learning and Emotional Difficulties in Families, Classrooms and Communities.
The model emphasizes bringing together all parts of a child’s world, to
foster appreciation for challenges across environments, and to develop
mutually positive plans.
Educational Objectives:
Dr. Whetstone uses interactive discussions, powerpoint, handouts, and
role-plays to promote:
-
The
child’s view of the world

with the difficult child and among team members
